Geodynamics

Geodynamics allows the user to download a zipped package containing the geodynamic plate model in GPlates format:

• Geodynamic terranes – rigid polygons representing Present day crustal blocks and their rotation parameters back to 300 Ma globally, 420 Ma for North America, Western Europe and Northwest Africa and 1.1Ga for major cratonic blocks
• Plate boundaries – dynamically modelled plate boundaries for the Atlantic Ocean, East Pacific, Caribbean and Scotia Sea and their rotation parameters back to 145 Ma. Plate-bounding features to define the major continental plates North America, South America, Africa and Eurasia back to 145 Ma and Antarctica back to 90 Ma.
• Tectonic plates – topologically derived polygons built from evolving plate boundaries for the regions listed under plate boundaries.
• Tectonic events – point summary features of all tectonic events defined for the Globe 2021 and 2022 releases.
• Pre-built project files to display the rigid model using Getech’s crustal architecture symbology or the geodynamic model including plate boundaries and topologic tectonic plates
